Over 40% of high-refresh-rate monitor owners accidentally run their screens at 60Hz because operating systems default to 60Hz unless manually adjusted. Follow these steps to unlock your monitor's full Hz:
Right-click Desktop → Display settings → Advanced display → Under Choose a refresh rate, select 144Hz / 165Hz / 240Hz.
Older HDMI 1.4 cables limit output to 60Hz. Connect your monitor using a DisplayPort 1.4 or HDMI 2.0+ cable to support high Hz.
Open NVIDIA Control Panel or AMD Software → Go to Change Resolution → Ensure Resolution is under PC section at max Hz.
